Launching Costa Cold Brew

Wake up and smell the coffee!

Coffee trends are constantly evolving. From nitrogen infused coffees to turmeric lattes, in a competitive, caffeinated market, innovation is a big deal. And it’s something Costa, the “nation’s favourite coffee shop” prides itself on.

 

Costa approached us to help them launch Cold Brew. And as summer was fast-approaching, we knew we really had to step up the pace. So, we developed an agile approach, using staggered focus groups across the UK, Dubai and Shanghai to gather rich consumer insights to inform the proposition and launch strategy. Fast forward 6 weeks and we had armed Costa with everything they needed to successfully launch Cold Brew.

 

Out with the old, in with Cold Brew

 

So, what happened? Our research found a real appetite for Cold Brew in London, so Costa first launched their new summer drink across the capital. Since then, Cold Brew has been rolled out in Poland, Dubai, Shanghai and Beijing, becoming a staple on the Costa menu. What’s more, the work identified yet another opportunity for the coffee chain – a new Cold Brew variant called Nitro.
